CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced Timmeka Eggleton, 31, was sentenced to life in prison with the first eligibility of parole after 31 to 35 years for the murder of her three-year-old son, Curtis Witcher.

“His mother gained custody from his foster parents who raised and loved him, and she promptly beat him to death. She deserves to spend the rest of her life in prison.”

On June 14, 2023, Timmeka Eggleton entered a store near East 79th Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland. Once inside, she reported her 3-year-old son, Curtis Witcher, was unresponsive in a stroller outside. The Cleveland Division of Emergency Medical Service responded to the scene and began providing life-saving aid to Curtis Witcher. Curtis Witcher was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Upon further investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police, it was revealed that Eggleton provided false information about the events leading up to her child’s death. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled Curtis Witcher’s death a homicide resulting from blunt-force trauma to his head, neck, and torso. In addition, he had several bruises and lacerations on his body in a pattern consistent with child abuse. Medical evidence and video evidence linked Eggleton to the crime.

On June 11, 2022, Timmeka Eggleton pleaded guilty to the following charges:

• One count of Murder
• One count of Felonious Assault
• One count of Endangering Children

Eggleton was sentenced to life in prison with the first eligibility of parole after 31 to 35 years in prison.
