CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that Tyric Green, 21, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of aggravated arson among other charges for intentionally setting a house on fire in Cleveland with three people inside – including a 7- month-old-baby. D’Andre Morris, 22, pleaded guilty on September 5, 2024, to aggravated arson and attempted aggravated arson, among other charges.

“It is by the grace of God this family escaped this horrific fire. Unfortunately, their family dog Salami did not survive. This plea is the first step in holding these two idiots accountable.”

Tyric Green failed to make three months of rent payments on the apartment he shared with his grandmother. After the landlord notified the grandmother, Green forged a letter from PNC Bank regarding the deposit of the funds.

On April 19, 2024, Tyric Green and D’Andre Morris approached Green’s grandmother’s landlord’s residence near West 106th Street and Clifton Boulevard in Cleveland. They attempted to set the residence on fire with a suspected ignitable liquid while the occupants were inside, but the attempt was unsuccessful. The next night around 2 a.m., they both came back to the same residence and successfully set the residence on fire with a suspected ignitable liquid. Three victims, a 29-year-old female, a 26-year-old male, and 7-month-old baby, a cat, and Salami – their family dog – were all inside. Green and Morris then fled the scene.

The three victims and the cat managed to escape by jumping out of a window on the second floor. Salami was pronounced deceased on the scene. Green and Morris caused over $750,000 in damages including damage to the surrounding residences. The Cleveland Fire Department (CFD) and the Cleveland Division of Police (CDP) both responded to the scene. The investigation was conducted by CDP and CFD.
