CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that a Cuyahoga County grand jury has returned an indictment charging Huishen Yang, 39, for attempting to illegally withdraw $148,000 in total from two different banks in Rocky River and North Olmsted.

“I want to thank the bank employees, North Olmsted Police Department, and Rocky River Police Department for their quick actions and diligent work in stopping Huishen Yang from stealing $148,000. On November 14, 2024, around 10:23 a.m. Huishen Yang entered the Third Federal Savings Bank on Center Ridge Road in Rocky River. He spoke to a teller and asked to withdraw $60,000 from a bank account that was not his using a false identification card. The teller alerted a supervisor for potential fraud and the bank called the police. Yang then fled the scene. Rocky River Police Department responded to the scene.

On November 14, 2024, around 11 a.m. Huishen Yang entered the Third Federal Savings Bank on Lorain Road in North Olmsted. He spoke to a teller and asked to withdraw $88,000 from the same bank account he had attempted to withdraw money from in Rocky River using a false identification card. The teller immediately called North Olmsted Police and they responded to the scene. Yang was arrested at the scene and had three false identification cards, seven stolen credit/debit cards, and three cell phones at the time of arrest.

Further investigation revealed that on September 2, 2024, Yang entered the country on a travel visa in California. This matter remains under investigation by the North Olmsted Police Department. On November 18, 2024, Huishen Yang was indicted on the following charges:

  • Two counts of Attempted Grand Theft
  • Two counts of Identity Fraud
  • One count of Forgery
  • One count of Possessing Criminal Tools
  • One count of Theft

He will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center on December 4 at 8:30 a.m.
