CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced Jason Iverson, 29, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the aggravated murders of his pregnant sister, her unborn child, and her husband in Maple Heights on September 4, 2023.
“On September 4, 2023, Mr. Iverson deliberately gunned down his sister, who was 7 ½ months pregnant, chased down his brother-in-law and shot him 12 times in a bathroom, and shot his 13-year-old son in the face. The amount of pain he inflicted on these families is immeasurable. I hope today these families can begin to heal and my thoughts and prayers remain with them.”

On September 4, 2023, Jason Iverson engaged in an altercation with his sister, 30, and her husband, 31, at a church picnic at Stafford Park near Mayville Avenue and Beverly Avenue in Maple Heights. The victims and Iverson’s 13-year-old son attempted to leave and entered their vehicle in the parking lot.
Iverson followed them and shot his sister and his 13-year-old son. The 31-year-old male victim got out of the vehicle and fled on foot into the park bathroom. Iverson followed the male into the bathroom, shot him multiple times, and fled on foot. The Maple Heights Police Department responded to the scene and arrested Iverson. The 31-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 30-year-old female and her unborn child were transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced deceased.
On March 13, 2024, Jason Iverson pleaded guilty to the following charges:
- Three counts of Aggravated Murder
- One count of Felonious Assault
He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
